When you book an appointment to see Dr Finkelstein you are not just booking time with ‘Sydney’s Friendliest Dentist’, you also get the expert service from our dental nurses. Dr Finkelstein’s dental nurses play a crucial role in supporting Dr Finkelstein to ensure that patients receive the best possible care. So, what role do Laila, Elle and Emma play in your visit to bring you the best possible dental care?
Assisting with dental procedures
The primary role of a dental nurse is to assist the dentist during dental procedures. Our dental nurses have brilliant knowledge of the dental treatments, ensuring that the surgery is set up and all materials and instruments are prepared beforehand for the individual treatment. A dental nurse will be present during your appointment to provide support, not only to Dr Finkelstein but to the patient as well. The dental nurse will be organised and equipped to ensure that the dental appointment runs smoothly so that Dr Finkelstein can focus only on the patient.
Point of contact
Dental nurses are often the first point of contact for our patients. They take calls, respond to emails, schedule appointments and handle billing. Our dental nurses also greet our patients with a smile when they arrive at our dental practice. Overall, they make our patients feel comfortable. Dental anxiety is a real issue preventing people from obtaining dental care, so by creating a safe, relaxed and trusted space this ensures patients turn up to receive the care they need.
Infection control
Dental nurses play a crucial role in infection control. Even before the event of COVID, infection control was an essential practice to limit any risk to our patients and colleagues. Dental nurses are hugely responsible for ensuring that all equipment is sterilised and that a deep clean is performed in between every patient. We have windows that can open in our surgeries to increase the flow of fresh air, which is also a contributing factor to the infection control practice at Dr Finkelstein’s Dental Surgery.
Patient education towards oral health
Dental nurses can also help educate patients about good oral hygiene practices. They provide advice on brushing and flossing techniques, as well as recommending products that can help maintain healthy teeth and gums.
Pre and post-operative care
During the procedure, our dental nurses help to monitor the patients wellbeing. After the procedure, they provide post-operative care, including giving advice on aftercare and arranging follow-up appointments. They also provide support if a patient is experiencing a dental emergency and do their best to provide an appointment in the next 24 hours.
Dental nurses are a vital part of any dental practice. Without them, patients would not receive the same level of care and attention. They make a significant contribution to the running of Dr Finkelstein’s Dental Surgery. We’d like to thank our Dental nurses Laila, Elle and Emma for all they do for Dr Finkelstein and our patients!
